God does not live by a clock, is not tied to a to-do list, does
not perceive in terms of the past, the present, or the future,
and basically exists in timelessness.
Jerry has a new Apple Watch. As soon as he got it,
he decided to create a watchband that has “Timeless”
printed on one side and “Patience” on the other to
remind him that his perception of time is not real and
that he needs patience every minute of every day to stay
focused on the timelessness of the eternal now. God is
only present in the moment.
Our egos seem so real when we are attached to dates,
tasks, and events on our calendars. We are attached to
focusing only on setting and accomplishing future goals as
well as to being in conflict and feeling guilty about it. The
ego uses time to remember our past hurts and to feel angry
or worry about the future.
Anxieties from the past or about the future do not
actually exist in the present, and so they continue to hurt
and limit us when we think they are real. We live in a
relative reality where we have bodies that follow our minds
based on the choices we make—both unconsciously as well
as consciously. Yes, body follows mind and not the other
To experience the reality of the eternal now, we must
use forgiveness on a daily basis and continue to forgive the
world we see through filtered perceptions and projections
that we believe are true.
When we truly see the value of forgiveness in an ongoing
way, we are present and we are part of God’s will, which is
eternal happiness and joy. That happiness is not what the
ego can understand, but it is a reality. When there is no
judgment, no fear, no interpretation, there is also no worry,
Staying in the present is challenging because it’s
tempting to value being, thinking, buying, or experiencing
something or somewhere other than here. We are placing
value on a constant rotation of bigger, better, shinier, more
self-esteem-boosting desires and wants. Each is only an
upgraded version of what we chose previously. It feels good
and we are happy for some moments, but has it brought us
lasting happiness and peace of mind? No!
Do you want to value what has no value? Every time you
choose, you are deciding for or against happiness. If you
choose what is not lasting, you are less likely to experience
happiness in the now on an ongoing basis.
If we believe we are merely bodies born to die, our
choice is for fading happiness and death. When we think
that this is reality, we are deceiving ourselves and we have
forgotten what we are. Living in the eternal now is about
remembering our true identity, which is changeless and
timeless and part of all that is.
When we say, “I rest in God,” this is a commitment to
live in the consciousness of the present. We recognize
that peace of mind, peace of God, is always there and it is
timeless and changeless. This is the eternal now, where we
experience our higher selves.
